Apparatus for collecting soot from soot-laden exhaust gases flowing in an exhaust gas line of an air-compressing compression ignition engine comprises a housing adapted to be incorporated in said exhaust gas line and to be flown through by said soot-laden exhaust gases; baffle walls contained in said housing and arranged to repeatedly deflect the exhaust gases flowing through said housing and to cause soot to be separated from said exhaust gases and to deposit at least in part on said baffle walls; and an accumulating container disposed under said baffle walls and arranged to receive soot which has been separated from said exhaust gases at said baffle walls. Said apparatus is designed to permit soot deposited on at least part of baffle walls to be removed therefrom and to fall into said accumulating container. 7 7/7 35 SP about 00 f 00 / F (/ r.1 eight sc The invention relates to a manual structure and can be used for - cleaning the exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine from harmful components. The aim of the invention is to increase efficiency. FIG. 1 shows the proposed device, a longitudinal section; in fig. 2 - the same option; in fig. 3 is a section A-A in FIG. 2; in fig. 4 - section BB in FIG. 3. In the exhaust pipe 1 of an internal combustion engine (not shown), a housing 2 is built in, having guide plates 3, 4 for repeatedly changing the direction of flow of the exhaust gases and, in its lower part, a grid 5, the lumens of which can be blocked. Under the lattice there is a catching tank 6, having a closable discharge opening with a flap 7, as well as a movable piston 8 for sealing the soot particles accumulating in the catching tank 6. The cleaning device has corresponding slots 10, which are equal in length to the width of the guide partitions 3, 4, and can be moved up and down with the help of the clamp 11. The baffles 3, 4 can be connected to a source of electrical voltage and temporarily disconnected from it in order to jeopardize the electrostatic separation of soot particles from the flue gases passing through the housing 2. In another embodiment (Fig. 2-4), the baffles 3 are made in the form of discs, which, when rotated, rotate through the slots 12 of the horizontal separating plate 13. The grooves 12 have separating edges 14 only on the side that interacts with discs 3 when they are jointly rotated downward so that the soot does not fall on the upper plane of the separating plate 13.
